Our Carbon Reduction journey

SmartSourcing is embracing our carbon reduction journey and in doing so demonstrating our sustainable credentials. We are Certified Carbon Neutral, offsetting
our emissions, as well as measuring and reducing them. With our sustainability and climate partner, Positive Planet, we have a realistic net-zero programme.
We know our carbon emissions and have an achievable carbon reduction plan to implement and execute to become Net Zero by 2035.

SmartSourcing has been awarded the Silver Accreditation by Positive Planet. This prestigious recognition underscores our steadfast commitment to sustainability and reducing our environmental impact. The accreditation reflects our ongoing efforts to implement eco-friendly practices across all facets of our operations. We are proud of this achievement and remain dedicated to advancing our sustainability initiatives, striving for even higher standards in environmental stewardship.

Our full Carbon Dashboard can be viewed here and will be reviewed bi-annually with board and management team sign off.

In order to align our business with the needs of our Public Sector customers we also established a fully compliant PPN06/21 to take account of Carbon Reduction in the
procurement of major government contracts, this will be reviewed and updated annually.

Carbon Offsetting

We are minimising our climate impact through carbon offsetting. Positive Planet help us support a range of carbon offset projects which comply with leading international
standards, including the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), Gold Standard Voluntary Emission Reductions (VER) and Certified Emission Reductions (CER).

Our climate impact is measured using the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which address global challenges, including poverty, inequality, climate change,
environmental degradation, peace, and justice. Our offsetting activities support the following UN SDG’s.

To encourage active participation, our staff are regularly updated about our Carbon Offsetting projects and have chosen to fund Reforestation, Future Technology and
Social Impact initiatives for the next 12 months.



Tree Planting Projects

Reforestation and conservation are critical components in the fight against climate change. In collaboration with Positive Planet, we help to reduce extreme poverty and restore healthy forests. Through this initiative local people across eight different countries to plant millions of trees every year.

This is natures solution, trees do more than capture carbon. they also help fight the side effects of a changing climate, such as: prevent flooding,
reduce city temperature, reduce pollution, keep soil nutrient-rich, prevent erosion, support biodiversity and wildlife, support local economies and create jobs.

SmartSourcing has committed to plant 3000 trees per year and over the coming year will directly link our commitment to our business outcomes.

To drive our ambitions and green agenda we have appointed a SmartSourcing Climate Ambassador. Adapting our commitment, communicating our
passion and ensuring our business is mitigating the adverse impacts of climate change.
